Wine Wednesday - Hot hot hot
On a day like today, the only thing I can think about when it comes to wine, is pouring ice-cold Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, or Rosé into my glass. It is close to 100 degrees here in Santa Barbara, which is a pretty rare occurrence, although lately it seems to be creeping up there on a regular basis.
When it’s really hot, the thought of red wine never works for me. So, of course, I turn to the whites. The heat can really bring out the white-wine explorer in me. It gives me a great excuse to try something a little different. I find the lighter, crisper options to be the most appealing in the heat. A dry Riesling, crisp Sauvignon Blanc, or a light Rose are perfect. If you want to be a little more daring go for a dry Grüner Veltliner or maybe an Alsatian Pinot Blanc -- always fun choices.
So save water, try something new, and drink up that beautifully chilled white or rosé wine!
Cheers,
