Wine Wednesday - Home Made

Happy Wine Wednesday everyone!

Have I mentioned lately that I love my slow cooker and Chardonnay? Well it has been a while, but I recently found an amazing recipe and wine pairing that I am excited to share with you today.

While perusing the aisles one early morning at Trader Joe's, I discovered these great little preparation tips they give on the tags of the food items. A little sign below the pork tenderloin said “pair me with our Salsa Verde in the slow cooker” - to which I answered, OK!

Once home I immediately went on the internet in search of a recipe for my tenderloin and salsa verde. Much to my surprise, I found this great blog called ‘The Pretty Bee’, boasting some amazing recipes and gorgeous photos, and the perfect recipe for me! Now my plan was complete and I began to prep the Slow Cooker Pork with Salsa Verde and Cilantro Rice seen here

So now to the wine pairing. I cook a lot of dishes with an element of spice, and I have mentioned before I love pairing spicy food with chilled white wine. This dish definitely called for a rich Chardonnay, and lucky for me my husband makes a couple of those. That night, I decided to select our very own Dolina Chardonnay. We produce both Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay under our Dolina label, and we made Chardonnay for the first time in 2012, and I told my husband that he HAS to keep making Chardonnay because this one turned out so good. It is a big Chardonnay with viscous layers of lemons, tropical fruit, apples, and pineapple. Showcasing lovely acidity with a finish that does not quit, I could drink this all summer long. I must say, along with his Pinot Noir’s, this wine makes me a very proud wife. Check out Dolina Wines website here

Looking back at this delicious meal, I would not change a thing about this recipe, while simple, it delivers big on flavor. Happily we found yet another perfect pairing, and my husband and I agreed that this little number was going to be on the menu many more times to come.

Cheers,

- L
